Hi, I'm Nancy Qi, (author name Ame Qi), welcome to my website where I showcase my growth and passion.
For me, writing is more than just a hobby; it's a form of emotional release. During the pandemic, I was separated from my parents and attended secondary school in Hong Kong. Students there discriminated against mainland Chinese students, so I had no friends at school. Sometimes I wouldn't speak to anyone for an entire day. I struggled to express myself verbally, so I began writing in a journal and telling stories to release those unspoken thoughts and emotions. Over time, I realized that writing helped me better understand myself and become more empathetic to the emotions of others.
I published my work on an online platform Chengguang and gradually amassed a large following. Many readers enjoyed discussing the details of their stories, but one encounter left a lasting impression. A fan confided in me that she suffered from depression stemming from a broken family and bullying at school. She said that before discovering my work, she had considered taking her own life. But after reading my story and getting to know me, she felt a renewed sense of hope. She even wrote me a long letter expressing her gratitude. That moment was a turning point for me—for the first time, I realized that even my seemingly insignificant words could carry the power to save a life. I'm particularly interested in psychological themes—why do people lie? Where does fear come from? In my stories, I enjoy exploring the complexities of human behavior, unraveling motivations, and unraveling emotional tensions. I often find that the characters I create reflect parts of my own inner world. This process of self-reflection through writing fascinates me.
Writing is now an integral part of my life. Whether I'm crafting a short story, a psychological thriller, or a screenplay brimming with emotional undercurrents, I find joy in every word. I believe in the healing power of writing, and I hope my work can help others feel seen and understood.
